Best known for her iconic role in I Dream of Jeannie, Eden’s career spans decades filled with fascinating moments, from Tom Jones’s shocking advances while they were both married to JFK secretly slipping her his phone number and the infamous belly button controversy that nearly got her fired. Born Barbara Jean Morehead on August 23, 1931, in Tucson, Arizona, during the Great Depression, Eden’s early life was shaped by financial struggles and resilience. Her mother, Alice, remarried, and their family found a fresh start in San Francisco, where Eden’s talent for music became apparent. She performed in nightclubs as a teenager, earning $10 a night, and later studied acting at the Elizabeth Holloway School of Theatre.
